Mid Coast Maine Farm to Table Trip Ideas
Camden Maine is more then the mountains and the sea. There is a real farm culture here to enjoy also. When you are in town, enjoy the fruit of the land. When in Maine – do as the Maine -ah’s do, eat fiddleheads, organic grass fed meat, drink MOO Milk, enjoy scallops, lobster and shrimp.
From farm to table trip:
Wake up and enjoy a organic and natural breakfast at Windward House. Walk over to the Farmer’s Market at the Knox Mill on Washington Street, downtown Camden Maine and see local vegetables, flowers, jams and crafts. Then hop on you rented bicyle and head out on the “Most Beautiful Walk” route through Camden and Rockport. You will pass by Aldermere Farm where you will see the famous Belted Galloway cows. You might want to stop at Laite Beach to get your feet wet and cool down. If need more of a workout, bike up to the Camden Dalhia Farm and enjoy the flowers. Then back Windward House were you can enjoy a locally made wine and prepare for dinner at Primo in Owls Head Maine. By far the best organic restaurant in MidCoast Maine. Go early so you can walk around the grounds and see the gardens. If you can not get into Primo we suggest trying Shepard’s Pie in Rockport.
